What Does Versace Pour Homme Smell Like?
I’m going to jump right in. It starts with a bright blast of citrus.
After about 30 seconds, it’s almost entirely lemon. At a distance, there is a deeper, more masculine accent. The nuance is not identifiable but lingers in the background, supporting lemon. All wrapped in an aquatic tone.
Two minutes into the wear, the sparkling brightness of lemon recedes. It is met by aromatic and fresh neroli. I particularly like neroli in this case, as it adds a slight bitterness/energy to the fragrance.
It won’t make your “nose pucker,” but it will have you returning for more.
At this point, it is equal parts citrus and neroli with the deeper, masculine accent from before. After a while, these accords mix and mingle until they settle into the mid.
The heart of the fragrance is nearly the same as the first few minutes. The depth I’ve been talking about ends up being musk. Even after 15 minutes, it is barely noticeable, slowly creeping in.
The dry-down starts to develop after 1 – 2 hours. The citruses and florals are gone but left their freshness. The musk becomes most prominent, bringing a degree of warmth with it.
The rest of the wear gets slightly warmer but stays consistent.

So, now you know the most important part of the fragrance. Let’s talk about the second. This was one of the first fragrances in my collection. So, I have a significant amount of experience with Versace Pour Homme.
How Long Does Versace Pour Homme Last?
A solid six to seven hours. It lingers for the last two hours but isn’t a skin scent. The temperature doesn’t affect longevity enough to be noticeable. I’ve worn it in 40-degree weather, and it still performs well.
The projection is slightly above average. The first 1 – 2 hours, it pushes out a good 3 -4 feet. After this period, it recedes, but still has a fantastic bubble of 2 feet around you.
It has a particularly good ambiance when I am seated. As I said, it settles about four hours into the wear.
When Can You Wear Versace Pour Homme?
It is mostly summer and casual wear.
However, it is not exclusively these two. In any warm weather, I would wear Versace Pour Homme. I’ve never tested it in the depths of winter. One, the citrus-ness doesn’t fit the vibe. But also, it would start to struggle.
It is office-safe and excellent for casual wear. But it doesn’t have the “oomph factor” for a special occasion like a formal event or date night.
Is Versace Pour Homme Unique?
Average to slightly below average. It’s a popular fragrance; you’ll likely meet another man wearing Pour Homme.
As for the scent, it’s just a citrus-based fragrance. Neither of these factors makes it bad in any way, shape, or form. But it won’t be unique to you.
Does Versace Pour Homme Get Compliments?
Outstanding. Compliments are a subjective factor, and many things dictate them.
However, Pour Homme grabs attention more quickly than most. This is due to its simplistic, masculine nature. It is hard not to like Pour Homme because it is inoffensive.
Is Versace Pour Homme Worth It?
Also outstanding, one of its better categories. Let me detail why this is so. It smells fantastic, has slightly above-average performance, is near all-year-round versatility, and is inoffensive.
You get all this for a 100mL bottle at around $60 on discounting websites. You can probably draw a conclusion for yourself. However, I’ll tell you that this is an outstanding deal.

The cologne bottle is clear and glass with a silver medusa on the front. The cap is silver metal that clicks into place. You won’t have to worry about spilling, as it’s pretty secure.
The sprayer is excellent, letting out a wide and heavy spray.
The Versace Pour Homme box is black with gold lettering. Your batch code will be on the bottom, and the medusa on the box will slightly protrude.
History
The Versace fragrance house debuted in 1978 with a women’s perfume. Only a few months after, they rose to mass success with the launch of their first men’s fragrance. Versace Pour Homme was released three decades later, in 2008.
I don’t have the numbers.
Yet, I would confidently say Pour Homme is the second most-sold Versace behind Eros. Since its release, it has inspired numerous other Pour Homme flankers, like Oud Noir and Dylan Blue, to name a few.
My Experience With Versace Pour Homme
All of the above information is my experience with Versace Pour Homme.
However, I keep it as objective as possible. This way, you can objectively decide if this is a fragrance you want to purchase or if you’re comparing a few fragrances. Thus, this section is my subjective opinion.
At first, I didn’t like Versace Pour Homme. I thought the opening was a bit overpowering and, honestly, nauseating. But after a few more wears, I came to really enjoy it.
I still find it overpowering, but I’ve learned to only wear it in open settings (outside), and then I love it. In relation to other fragrances in the same ballpark – Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue Eau Intense – this is one of my first picks.

Versace Pour Homme vs. Dylan Blue
Pour Homme is as described above. A citrus, aquatic-based cologne.
Dylan Blue, however, leans further into the “blue fragrance” category. It has a bright, almost shower-gel opening. It then finishes with a heavy backbone of ambroxan. Whereas Pour Homme is more about musk.
Dylan Blue will be more intense and will garner a lot more attention.
