All 6 of The Best Burberry Colognes Ranked – Full Review

So, I was at TJ Maxx the other day.

I tried to contain myself but quickly found myself at the fragrance rack – weird, I know.

Anyway, I was scouring the shelves and found Burberry Touch. Next thing I know, I have Burberry for Men in my other hand.

Long story short, after my riveting experience today. I am bringing you a review of the Best Burberry Colognes for Men.

It will cover how the top six smell and perform and if they are the right choice for you. As a whole, they are high-quality and unique fragrances for an affordable price.

If you want to know how the story ends. You’ll just have to discover the other four scents and make it to the conclusion. If you’re ready, let’s get started!

#6 – Burberry Hero EDT

Okay, time is well-spent here. You have already found the hero of the story. All jokes aside, this is one of the most recent releases from Burberry.

It is straightforward and pleasant but lacks the extra oomph to make you go, “wow!”

Hero opens with a blast of sweet juniper with slight citrus and pepper. The pepper combines with the sweetness to make the scent more than one directional.

This is the most interesting part of the fragrance, with an exceptionally nice balance.

Once the opening fades, so does the scent. Some woods are left, but most of this is from the juniper that is dissipating quickly.

Hero is a simple scent that performs well for all occasions except winter and nighttime. It lacks the mass and darkness to stand out during these times.

#5 – Burberry Brit for Men

Yeah, I’ve seen some younger guys spray this on. So… what happens next? Well, it’s a fragrance for slightly older guys. They never dislike it, just not for them. I like to think of it as an old-school fragrance turned modern.

Fleeting citruses and spices lead the opening. They are both faint and never prominent. Instead of the spices being an awakening pepper, they’re a subtle dry cardamom.

Soon, powdery rose dominates the scent and makes up the bulk of the wear.

In this case, the rose is not feminine; it retains a fresh nature with a slight barbershop vibe.

After a few hours, it dries to a powdery musky base with a faint woody background. The rose is mostly gone but left its powdery nature. The warm woods are as faint as the opening citrus.

Brit for Men does smell good but is unbalanced. It progresses from subtle, intense to subtle, like a roller coaster. For the right price, it’s a steal.

You shouldn’t expect a summer fragrance from Burberry Brit. The scent can sometimes get too intense.

#4 – Burberry Mr. Burberry EDT

So if you look down below, you’ll see a bowtie on the bottle. Immediately you’re probably thinking, “Must only be for formal occasions.” Well, no, look again. Burberry got me too. It is a classy scent but is well-suited for all occasions.

The opening is an unforgettable, intense grapefruit note. It is slightly synthetic but not off-putting. Herbal and slightly green mint is playing second fiddle in the background, providing a cool freshness to the fragrance.

In the background is a duo of warm cedar and sandalwood. It pairs perfectly with the grapefruit.

The dominant woody and grapefruit pair lead into the mid. There isn’t much development but a light addition of spice. I can’t determine if it’s nutmeg or cardamom as it gets enveloped by the dominant woody notes.

Either way, it adds an intriguing touch. This spice is never in your face.

The dry-down retains its fresh and woody nature. I pick up more distinct vetiver nuances as they are warmer and slightly smoky. The rest of the wear is fresh, warm woods and subtle spices lingering.

Mr. Burberry is more versatility divisive than the preceding two. It does better in the summer but is geared towards the transitionary seasons. Yet, it is not the greatest choice for nighttime or winter wear.

#3 – Burberry for Men

Well, we got a second one today. The first few times I wore this, I was told it was the perfect dad scent. Unfortunately, I have no kids, so it wasn’t very fitting. Burberry for Men is a fantastic scent but slightly classic – nothing wrong with that.

A bright aromatic opening with a combination of bergamot, lavender, and mint. All work together to create an extremely fresh aroma. The bergamot and mint combination has a spicy tinge.

While the lavender has a floral nuance that balances out the opening.

After the first 10 – 15 minutes, a semi-powdery lavender almost takes up the entirety of the scent.

At the heart of the wear, all the top notes have faded except lavender, which retains fresh accents. A warm cedar develops in the background giving Burberry for Men depth.

Then a dry oak moss becomes prominent, pairing with the floral and semi-powdery lavender.

The dry-down is the most pleasant part of the wear. I get a warm trio combination of vanilla, amber, and cedar with musky and powdery lavender nuances. Some may call it “cozy,” which I get for the rest of the wear.

Burberry for Men is no different from the others. It works for all occasions but could be better for evening and wintertime wear.

#2 – Burberry Touch for Men

Do you remember the intro? Well, here’s the gem that caught my attention. This eye candy is decades old but still impressive. Its aroma is always masculine, light & playful.

The opening emphasizes freshness with a combination of mandarin orange, and pepper. The orange is the most dominant, providing a zest and citrus blast. The pepper is sharp but not “nose-puckering.”

After the first few minutes, the top duo weakens. Allowing room for violet leaf to bring its way in. It has a fresh ozonic, and green nature that makes the scent slightly soapy when combined with the top notes.

If you’re familiar with Dior Fahrenheit EDT, which uses a violet leaf note to create the gasoline accord, in Touch for Men, Violet Leaf is used vastly differently.

I digress. The base develops a significant woodiness and muskiness. The most prominent wood is a warm cedar. The musk note is less prevalent but works well with the soapy tone from before, giving it a masculine and clean smell.

The rest of the wear is ozonic, clean, woody, and slightly sweet from adding tonka bean nuances.

I would recommend wearing Burberry Touch for all occasions. This is a more mature fragrance that younger guys might struggle to pull off. However, it only works to its fullest in spring or fall.

#1 – Burberry London for Men

Well, I left the best for last. Think of the last time you were staring at your collection in search of a holiday scent. London for Men is the perfect choice and commonly referred to as “holidays in the bottle.”

The beginning is strong but fades quickly. Crisp citrus and lavender dominate the opening. Undertones of spicy cinnamon are sure to remind you of the holidays.

Progressing into the heart is a soft leather aroma and a floral scent. Most of the florals come from lavender lingering from the opening.

Warmth and luxury accompany the base. The leather lingered from the heart and was joined by tobacco and oakmoss. These scent accords don’t seem like holidays, but Burberry London smells like them.

Since it is “holidays in a bottle,” it is best suited for colder temperatures.

My Experience With the Best Burberry Colognes for Men

All of the above information is my experience with the best Burberry colognes for men.

However, I keep it as objective as possible. This way, you can objectively decide if this is a fragrance you want to purchase or if you’re comparing a few fragrances. Thus, this section is my subjective opinion.

Burberry is a luxury brand, and some of its fragrances follow suit. However, I’m not sold on the idea that all are must-haves.

To my nose, a lot have old-school aromas that are best fit for older gentlemen. They’re okay, but it’s not as appealing for a younger guy.

Other than this maturity, Burberry colognes are alright. I just wouldn’t pay full price for any of them as I don’t think they’re worth it.

How to Pick the Best Burberry Colognes for Men

Start with price. No matter the fragrance, pay only what you feel comfortable with. There are plenty of other fragrances to choose from.

With a price range set, determine when and where you want to wear your new fragrance. All seasons, warm weather, cold weather?

All occasions, formal, casual, dates, etc… This information can be pulled from the review’s last paragraph and infographic.

Once you know your price range and when you want to wear it, you should have a small list.

If you still have a few choices left, compare the prominent accords of your prospective fragrances with prominent accords of fragrances you’ve enjoyed in the past.
