Best Gucci Colognes – The Ultimate Guide of The Top 5

What do you think of when you hear Gucci? If I had to guess, you thought of high quality and luxury.

This can be said for their fragrances as well. Over the years, Gucci has only produced a few colognes, but when they do, they do it well.

They have created everything from simple and masculine to dark and seductive. No matter what type fits your palette, Gucci has it.

This review will describe how the best Gucci Colognes for Men smell and perform.

#5 – Gucci Guilty Black Pour Homme

For a cologne that is marketed as ultra-dark and seductive, I need help getting it. Guilty Black Pour Homme is undoubtedly a good cologne, but it is not what I thought it would be.

The opening is an expression of youthful confidence. There is green coriander and invigorating lavender. It is slightly soapy but, for the most part, green.

After a few minutes, the orange flower comes into play and blends with neroli and aromatic tones. The heart notes provide richness and create a dense atmosphere.

Though thick, it still doesn’t offer the darkness that I had hoped.

Into the base, Guilty Black Pour Homme is mostly a patchouli fragrance. If you didn’t know, patchouli is the signature note of Gucci fragrances. It does get “darker” in the base; the patchouli provides a woody undertone.

Guilty Black Pour Homme is slightly seductive and mysterious. Combined with green and woody tones, it compares to walking through a dark forest.

As for wear, you can wear Guilty Black Pour Homme all year round. I can’t say it’s the best all-year fragrance, but it gets the job done.

#4 – Gucci Guilty Pour Homme Parfum

Guilty Pour Homme Parfum is the newest fragrance on the list, launching in January 2022. Gucci did this to have the cologne on the market before Valentine’s day, a hint to the type of fragrance it is meant to be.

The opening is intense; the first time I used it, I sprayed it on my hand, held my arm out, and could taste the fragrance.

The lemon leads the open; it is bright and sour but not lip-puckering. Spicy nutmeg and floral lavender support the opening. They are most prevalent in the opening and provide a vibrant aroma.

The base is sexy, smells like a sensual man, and has an easy-to-wear masculine aroma. The heart and base show the essence of Gucci. The rich, dense amber and lavender blend exudes a liberated passion.

Drying-down to the base, signature patchouli fuses with wood and musk.

For me, Guilty Pour Homme Parfum is an all-year-round scent. Guilty Pour Homme Parfum is one of those colognes that is not great at anything but is good at everything.

#3 – Gucci Gucci by Gucci Pour Homme

Gucci Pour Homme is a modern art form that has gone forgotten. Gucci Pour Homme does not fit the modern Gucci style. It is a cologne for a man in a Gucci suit, not the elegant streetwear often seen.

Its class and sophistication need to be worn by a mature man who knows who he is.

Zesty lemon and cypress lead the opening. The lemon is very fresh, bright, and crisp. While the cypress isn’t too woody yet. It contributes a degree of aromatic freshness that amplifies the citric lemon.

But also contributes a subtle spice that is invigorating but not peppery.

The mid darkens. The citruses are present but weakening, while a green and woody core is taking its place. There is significant emphasis on the piney cypress. It lost its fresh aromatic nature and is now considerably woody.

The dry down is nearly fully developed after two hours. The citruses have faded, and the cypress is at the forefront.

From the transition of mid to base, a strong tobacco accord snuck in; it’s in nearly equal parts with the woody accord. A simple but sophisticated aroma.

Gucci Pour Homme is a spectacular cologne for casual occasions. But there are better summer choices.

#2 – Gucci Intense Oud

What’s a fragrance brand without an Oud? Gucci has created multiple oud fragrances over the years, but Intense Oud is the best.

Gucci Intense Oud is a simple fragrance from start to finish.

The first 15 minutes are the most piercing, but in a good way. There is a smoky incense and subtle olibanum duo with a woody backbone. The smoky incense is the part that some may find off-putting.

While the olibanum contributes a fruity-like aroma that adds a unique twist to the fragrance.

The woody notes in the background are a variety of wood accords and Oud. However, the Oud is never the most prominent.

After this initial period, Intense Oud gives way to a pleasant and wearable olibanum note. It is smooth and rich, amplifying the woodiness of the scent.

This newfound smoothness is partly from the addition of prominent amber notes that wash over the fragrance.

The rest of the wear olibanum is still the star combined with amber and light oud nuances. Interestingly, Oud was not the strongest note in the fragrance.

For me, Intense Oud is a special occasion fragrance. It is suitable for all occasions, when and how you wear it is up to you.

However, Intense Oud is limited to colder temperatures. The Oud is too intense in the summer and doesn’t fit the vibes.

#1 – Gucci Guilty Absolute

Gucci Guilty Absolute is the best Gucci cologne for men on the list. It’s a unique and masculine designer fragrance, unlike your typical “blue” fragrance.

If your go-to is “blue” fragrances, Guilty Absolute probably isn’t for you.

The opening starts strong. It is a potent leather and dirty patchouli duo on a warm woody backbone. From the start, patchouli has a woody nature that only amplifies the backbone.

As the scent develops, there is a subtle spice from the cypress. It doesn’t come off as peppery but rather an invigorating aromatic nature. In the background, leather and dirty wood notes are present.

The dry-down is smoother and fresher. The patchouli gets kicked out by lighter vetiver while the woody notes get drier. Yet, it still retains a rich, warm, and dark aroma.

The vetiver doesn’t last long; it only lightens the scent and kicks patchouli out.

The rest of the wear is almost exclusively a leather and cypress scent. Cypress is still woody with a subtle spicy tinge. This is a simple scent but always retains its masculine nature.

Guilty Absolute is not ultra-versatile. It works well for certain situations but could work better for others. I don’t recommend wearing Guilty Absolute in warm temperatures; it will be too strong.
