#7 – Versace Blue Jeans
Versace Blue Jeans made it on this list for its appeal not necessarily its scent. When I wear this, it is a strong cola vibe – that like coca-cola. There are fresh citruses, greens, lavender, vanilla, and woods.
I would never wear this to impress someone. After all, it is almost like a barbershop cologne. However, I wear this around the house often.
It is a scent that is easy to wear, smells good, and is not too overwhelming. For me, it is one of the best Versace colognes because it is quality but inexpensive – $20.
The performance is not great; a few hours, it leaves a light scent trail. Overall, Blue Jeans is a cool scent to have because it’s what I imagine 90s in a bottle would smell like.
#6 – Versace Man Eau Fraiche
The next July heatwave, you’ll be glad. Versace Man Eau Fraiche only gets better as it gets hotter.
A trio of fresh citruses leads the opening. They sit atop a slightly aquatic background, with the main emphasis still on the citruses.
Immediately upon the first spray, lemon is the star of the show. After 45 minutes, Eau Fraiche gains a considerable amount of herbal spices. Black pepper is listed as a mid-note, but this spice never comes across as assaulting or like you want to sneeze.
Instead, it delivers the same amount of energy but in a unique way.
The citruses fade the longer you wear it. In the end, it is an aquatic scent with a woody base.
The projection is outstanding when the citruses are dominant. For the rest of the wear, the scent slowly loses strength. As for wear, it is almost exclusively a summer scent.
If summer is considered 3 months, then you could casually wear Eau Fraiche four months out of the year.
#5 – Versace Eros EDT
Unless this is your first time around fragrances, you probably had a good idea of what would be the best. Eros EDT is the signature of the brand and needs no introduction.
Upon the first spray is a zesty lemon note paired with a juicy green apple and cool mint spice. As a whole, the beginning is remarkably fresh and unique.
The mint is spicy. Like Versace’s before, it is not a peppery note. Instead, it is awakening and invigorating.
Vanilla will soon make an appearance once the mint does its thing. It is prevalent in the opening and mid, but as for now, it mostly plays with the other sweet notes.
As Eros develops, it becomes more of a one-sided show. Vanilla and tonka bean combine to create a very warm and delicious pairing. Both are contrasted by subtle mint spice.
At this point in the wear, the scent can sometimes get sweet. But it is never sugary or syrup-like.
Creamy vanilla dominates the dry-down. Light ambroxan and floral nuances create a shell around this trio. I specifically like the vanilla and floral combination as it has a sensual nature.
After this point, there are woody additions. They add some depth and round off any remaining edges. Yet, none amount to the strength and pleasure of the dominant vanilla.
Performance is above average. This has been popularized as only a going-out scent. Yet, in moderation, you could pull it off in an office setting.
#4 – Versace Pour Homme
So you want a simple and affordable designer fragrance? It seems like this request would be a tall task. Yet, Versace Pour Homme is up for the challenge.
Ultra clean is the easiest way to describe it. It is an old-school fragrance in the fact that it is simple and lacks many synthetic molecules.
It starts with a bright blast of citrus. After about 30 seconds, it’s almost entirely lemon. At a distance, there is a deeper, more masculine accent.
The nuance is not identifiable but lingers in the background, supporting lemon. All wrapped in an aquatic tone.
Two minutes into the wear, the sparkling brightness of lemon recedes. It is met by aromatic and fresh neroli. I particularly like neroli in this case, as it adds a slight bitterness/energy to the fragrance.
It won’t make your “nose pucker,” but it will have you returning for more.
At this point, it is equal parts citrus and neroli with the deeper, masculine accent from before. After a while, these accords mix and mingle until they settle into the mid.
The heart of the fragrance is nearly the same as the first few minutes. The depth I’ve been talking about ends up being musk. Even after 15 minutes, it is barely noticeable, slowly creeping in.
The dry-down starts to develop after 1 – 2 hours. The citruses and florals are gone but left their freshness. The musk becomes most prominent, bringing a degree of warmth with it.
The rest of the wear gets slightly warmer but stays consistent.
This is a fragrance for all occasions but almost exclusively a summer scent. Off my skin, it lasts 8 hours and projects for a few with a decent scent bubble.
#3 – Versace Pour Homme Oud Noir
Oud Noir is one of the best Oud fragrances on the market. It is perfect for beginners because it never gets animalic. The scent is always easy to wear and sexy.
The opening starts with a sweet and spicy kick. Neroli and bitter orange are paired in the opening. Hardy either gives off a citric nature nor does the Neroli smell floral.
They give a fresh and sweet touch to the trio of spices that jump off the skin and invigorate the senses.
Oud only takes about a minute to come through as the backbone. In the opening, it never overwhelms the top notes and works exceptionally well with them.
As the scent develops, it simplifies further and further. The warm cardamom spice from the opening remains in the dry-down. While the oud note is becoming increasingly dominant.
The end of the wear is dark and mysterious, with a heavy dose of Oud and lingering spices.
Talk about a great fall and winter wear. Off my skin, it lasts 7 hours and has an arm’s length projection for a few of those. Oud, as a whole, is a mature scent, but I can see men of all ages rocking this cologne.
It is an excellent designer alternative to Tom Ford Oud Wood.
#2 – Versace Dylan Blue
Suppose you want your compliments to come from smelling fresh and clean. In that case, you are in the right place. Versace Dylan Blue is a big performer.
In my collection, it is one of the best compliment-pullers for the phrase “you smell good.”
It has a fresh shower gel vibe. The top notes are a citrus combination of bergamot and grapefruit. They are sweet and familiar. Resting underneath is an aquatic accord and ambroxan.
All last for the rest of the wear.
The citrus duo fades after some time but leaves its sweetness. Once the citruses fade, so does the shower gel vibe. At this point, ambroxan starts to darken with an earthy and spicy nature.
Yet, it never comes across as dirty.
The fresh and sweet aroma heads in a warmer direction. Most of the aquatic nature is gone, and ambroxan is left. It is prevalent but not an ambroxan bomb like Dior Sauvage.
Dylan Blue has above-average longevity and projection. You can spray this on and not worry about it for the rest of the day. But speaking of sprays, be careful.
It doesn’t seem like it’d be too intense, but 3 sprays in an office building fill the floor.
It’s all-season and occasion versatile. If you live in a climate below 10F (-12C), Dylan Blue will struggle but performs well for the most part.
One of the better parts of Dylan Blue is its uniqueness. It is not hyper-unique but considering blue fragrances. It has its own genre. Many fragrances have similarities, but none are clones.

If Eros EDT was for sensual love, then Eros Flame is for passionate love.
A bright and juicy duo of lemon and tangerine leads the opening. Following the dominant top notes is a warm undertone of black pepper.
Like Eau Fraiche, it is not overwhelming but adds a different dynamic to the top notes.
The first few minutes are pretty dependent on the citruses with spice nuances. But after that, the vanilla and tonka bean pair bring out their smooth, creamy aroma.
They are more than background notes but definitely not at the forefront.
For the first hour, there is a strong rosemary note. It comes across as both aromatic and herbal.
Once rosemary loses strength, it opens the door for the dry-down to develop. The main focus is now on woody elements. The most prominent notes are smooth cedar and sandalwood. Both are accompanied by a faintly sweet vanilla.
For the rest of the wear, it is creamy woods with green nuances, light vanilla, and spices sprinkled on top.
The performance is impressive. On my skin, it has always lasted an entire workday, no matter the season or occasion. While leaving a decent scent trail in the process. In the high heat, tone down the sprays.

The occasions are more lenient than the seasons.
